Camping

In August, we went camping for two nights.  The boys were SO excited about going camping and they had a BLAST!  Such a fun age!

Where we camped is considered "wild camping" here.  So, we had to load our stuff into carts and wheel it through the woods to our campsite.  It was great because there were NO cars at the campsite.

Many campsites here do not allow fires but this one did and the boys LOVED it!
It was a little chilly so we had a fire a lot!

They got new tiger chairs for the trip and they loved them.
Lots of sugar for breakfast, cocoa and sugar cereal.

Nate LOVES to climb a tree right now.  He is a problem solver just like his daddy.  God totally directed us to the perfect spot for camping because right behind our tents was a great tree that he enjoyed climbing.  He got a little higher every time he climbed.

 

They also got sleeping bags for this trip.  They actually slept in them and even took a nap on Saturday.  We thought we would lay down for quiet time and see if they would sleep and to our surprise they did.  We wore them out walking through the woods, climbing trees and swinging.

 

The campsite was on a farm so for dinner Saturday night we bought meat from the farm shop.  Allen did an awesome job cooking it.  So yummy!

We left Sunday morning.  Nate was not excited about leaving!  Such a great weekend camping with my guys.  I can definitely see a time when it will be guys only on camping trips but for right now, I am enjoying the time with them.  We camp very simply, cereal, hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly, etc and you can't forget the marshmallows and hot chocolate.  I bought an uno deck before we went and that was a highlight for the times it was raining and we had to be in the tent or for winding down before nap and bedtime.  Fun memories!
