Books

I have read some great mommy books recently that have been a huge encouragement to me.  I thought I would share them with you all.  All two of you that read...

This book Lunch Notes by Linda Rose is a really easy read.  You can buy it in PDF form for you Kindle or other gadget.  A lot of the info is for older kids but it has lots of great scriptural references and is just really encouraging for a mommy that wants to make life fun and memorable for our family.  Loved it and I am looking forward to reading it throughout the years.  I read this in less than a week and just laughed and cried through it.  One of the fun parts is that the auther lives here with me and has been a super encouragement to me.  She is a huge blessing and the word of God just flows from her mouth.  Love it and totally want to be more like that.

I just finished reading this book, Loving the Little Years by Rachel Jankovic.  I have read some of her blog posts at Desiring God.  I found her book, and Allen surprised me and put it on our Kindle for me to read.  It is a great book.  Short chapters, lots of humor but also very challenging.  She has 5 children under 5 or something like that.  So, she is very down to earth but also calls you to be all that the Father wants you to be as a mom.  Great book!  I read it in less than a week because it is super easy reading.

Allen and I have started working through this workbook, Discipline them, Love them.  It has been awesome and really good for us to do together and talk about disciplining our children.  They are short chapters so we do one after the boys are in bed at night and then we still have time to enjoy our time at night.  We have enjoyed hearing and learning about how we were raised and how that impacts us now.  We were really struggling with Ben and trying to figure out what to do about his two year old behavior that we did not like.  This has been a huge and encouraging tool for both of us.

This next book, A Mothers Heart by Jean Fleming my mom gave me before Ben was born.  I have slowly read a chapter here and there.  If you are struggling or need to be encouraged about the importance of being a mom this is a great book.  I obviously took my time in reading this book but it is great and I really enjoyed picking it up and reading here and there.

What books have you read that encouraged you?  I would love to know!
